I made a Dreamcatcher

posted on: 5.28.2013

Last night I was browsing on Etsy when I ran across a dreamcatcher. I seriously sparked with inspiration at that very moment because I seriously love dreamcatchers. I never thought about making my own until I realized Etsy is a handmade marketplace and somebody was selling handmade dreamcatchers. I literally sprinted to my room and pulled out a huge box of wooden beads, lace, wire, cording, feathers and other random tid bits. I whipped this thing out in two hours and absolutely love the outcome of the piece. I think it is really natural and earthy which is what I was going for. Since I was unsure of how to weave the center I actually pulled a vintage doily from my stash which I think looks quite unique and even adds more of that handmade touch. What are your thoughts on this piece? I am addicted and after school tomorrow I plan on making a mini one for my keychain which I will share with you all of course.

DIY // Flower Crowns

posted on: 5.10.2013

Flower Crowns have to be one of my all time favorite accessories at the moment. They add that fun hipster vibe with a hint of freshness due to the flowers. This photo of my friend Zuhrah has to be one of my all time favorite photos I have shot. I just love the bare skin feeling. Does that even make sense? I can promise you she was wearing a strapless dress (lol). Anyway, I created a video last night (which was live) about how to create these crowns. We made a total of 3 flower crowns on the class and I highly suggest checking out the video. These crowns take 20 minutes at max and could be used as an accessory, flower girl crown or photo prop. I personally think anybody can pull off a flower crown.

DIY - Holiday Wreath

posted on: 12.05.2012

Hey there everyone, Today I have a fun little DIY project for you. Now for a little disclaimer :: This is my first ever wreath. I had to stop adding to it because the sun was going down quickly. I plan on making the wreath fuller and rounder tomorrow. This project is very simple and in the next few days I will be doing a follow up video on decorating the wreath.
The tools and supplies are very limited for this project. I used some tree clippings from a local Christmas tree seller. I also used a pair of wire cutters (The scissors did not work) and a large 24" metal wreath base. I also got this base from the tree seller for $6.
Using your cutters, cut of pieces of the greenery. Cut off generous pieces and avoid tiny fragments because they will just fall out of the completed wreath.
Lay the tree pieces in the base. Make sure the base of the pieces is in-between two of the popping out spikes. The spikes will clamp these pieces down. I suggest finding the largest, fullest and longest pieces and lay them down. This will make sure the backing of the wreath will stay in tact and smaller pieces can be added on top as filling.
The pegs can now be bent over to secure the base branches onto the wreath. I suggest using a hammer and not your fingers because these are thick.
Now is the tine where you can add extra branches and fill your wreath. Using mini black zip ties simply zip tie branches onto your wreath. The more you add on, the fuller your wreath will get. Cut the tie end flush to the branch and pull out some of the greenery to cover the tie. I will be adding more branches to mine.
I just had to share these lovely shoes with you. I got them for $4 at K-mart and I'm pretty excited to wear them this holiday season. Oh, look at my chevron pants! I died when I saw this pair in stores. I know the wreath doesn't look very great at this moment but I promise by the decorating post that it will be pretty and full.

DIY :: Friendship & Chain Wrap Bracelet

posted on: 7.29.2012

Hey there, Today I have a super trendy and easy DIY project! This project literally took me about 15 minutes to make. I have seen wrap bracelets everywhere just about made with any material but I have not seen one in "friendship" bracelet form. I added a touch of shine with this pretty gold chain. I really love the way this bracelet turned out and I can't wait to make multiple more. I think these would be fun to stack and have a cluster of chain and embroidery bracelets on your wrist! You can also even wear this as an asymmetrical necklace.

1) Supplies Needed :: embroidery floss, gold chain, gold clasp, gold jump-rings, tape 2) Cut about 35-40 inches per color of embroidery floss, fold in half and knot and shown 3) Tape your loop down and arrange strands as shown 4) Pull your 2 outest strands into the center and cross one over the other 5) repeat step 4 by taking your 2 outest strands and pulling them to the center. We are essentially creating a fish tail braid 6) As you can see it creates a fish tail braid or a neat chevron pattern 7) Braid all the way down and tie a knot at the end. Clip excess embroidery floss as close to the knot as possible. 8) Attach apprx. 10 inches of chain to one of the loops with a jump ring 9) Lastly attach a gold clasp to the opposite end. Simply wrap around your wrist multiple times and clasp it to the chain. enjoy!

DIY PROJECT :: Washi Tape Journal

posted on: 6.20.2012

Photobucket This little journal is the perfect project to whip out for gifts + it's super cute. I needed a journal I could use to write down my blogging ideas such as DIY Projects I had in mind and recipes I wanted to create, so I made this journal. I have tons of washi tape and I need to use more of it & this project was perfect for washi tape. The pattern tape keeps the pages intact and fold able within the journal. If you need some washi tape you can check out my shop (over 60 patterns).

STEPS::
1. Supplies Needed :: Kraft Cardstock, Scissors, Washi Tape, and Paper Trimmer. 2. Cut your paper down to 4x6 inch pieces. 3. I cut all that cardstock to use for my journal. 4. Lay two pieces of your kraft cardstock side by side and run a strip of washi tape down the center. 5. This created a hinge on your pages. 6. After a few more pages are added using the same technique. 7. Round the corners if you desire. 8. Use more tape to hide all the hinges and create a pretty spine. 9. Decorate your cover with more tape to your liking. 10. journal away!

I have already written so much in mine! I use small tape strips as page headers.

DIY PROJECT :: Vintage Button Bracelet

posted on: 6.15.2012

Why Hello again,
I thought for my actual first post i would do a DIY project! I'm so excited to share this super cute and simple bracelet with you.  I always see this lovely floral print in vintage shops and i can teal floral is back in trend.  This bracelet was made with only 4 materials and in less than 30 minutes! Lets get started.

As you can see we are only using 4 materials as follows -
1} Cord or Twine (I used cotton cord i picked up at Michael's)
2} Sewing Needle (Needs a large eye)
3} Buttons (I used floral wood buttons from my etsy shop)
4} A pair of scissors or snips

Choose as many buttons as you would like to go around your wrist. I choose 4 which fits a standard 7.5" wrist. These buttons are 1.5" in width so they make up 6" in total but we need spacing for our cord and closure.

Thread a total of of 3 strands at about 30" each through the eye of the needle as shown above.

Start by threading the 3 strands through the backside of the button as shown above. Make sure to leave about a 9" tail which we will use later in the closure.
Tie a loose know on the back to keep the cord in place (make sure its loose because we will untie it later.

Attach all 4 buttons to the cords leaving about a 1/8 - 1/4" spacing between each button
And know we have 2 buttons on! Keep on going.
There we go, that's better. Know all 4 buttons are threaded on leaving a small gap between each.
Then you can flip it over and tie again another loose know to keep everything together. This will ensure your buttons wont slide off.
Alright so know you can see i have done to same thing to the opposite holes that we have already done. Just repeat the previous steps to finish the opposite side. Were almost done but not yet!

This is what the backside of your buttons will look like! As you can see i have loose knots on either last button.
Jump much!!! So i skipped a few steps and we are know looking at this. Trust me, it is super easy to get to this step. Basically all you need to do is repeat the previous step but flip it over. This will connect the buttons from the top and bottom for extra security.

Here is the side view of the bracelet. As you can see its pretty self explanatory!
Know we will tie a knot to secure it all! At this point you will want to untie those loose knots we tied earlier because we will tie a large know with all 12 strands. Basically pull all the strands taught and tie a pretty tight knot.
Split the strands as shown above

Repeat this decorative tail on both sides for a total of 2 on either side. This will allow you to easily tie this cute bracelet on your wrist!

LOVELY, I just love this floral bracelet and i hope you will five it a go!
