"Sketches of Cards" Altered Journal ~ Drew Scott

posted on: 9.30.2011

Hello Everyone!
So i was looking around the other day for something i could sketch a card design on! I decided i really needed a card sketch book and so i thought i would make one using the AMAZING Antiquities paper collection by Donna Salazar! I also used some of her new dies from spellbinders which im loving!!!
I also decided to do one of my "From start to Finish" videos for my youtube channel and recorded the whole process of making this card sketch book!! Lets get started!!
Above is a pic of the sketch book! My style is normally very clean and bright so this was a bit of a challenge but i love the outcome! I used the 8x8 Clipboard wood for the base of the journal and added a piece of Corrugated Board on top! I used my Distezz-it-all to really grind my edges of the cardboard!  With the cardboard i also ripped the top layer off and using embossing ink to go over the top and add some AMAZING white embossing powder! It embosses in such details and i highly recommend it! If you can tell i also used the embossing pad to rub on the clipboard board edges and used the embossing powder to give a shabby white edge!
Here are some details!

 Look at the lovely texture!!

I'm really pleased with the way this sketch book turned out! I used the new Donna's Alphabet Dies from Spellbinders for the titles and attached them with glue then my tiny attacher for a rustic feel!  The butterfly is also cut out with Donna's new wonderful wings butterfly die! I tied some tulle around the corrugated board for even more texture and added a heart lock to the center of the bow! A simple closure of a hitch post, eyelet and some string keep this book closed for traveling and when i want it closed LOL!

Supplies Used!
- Prima Roses and Cherry Blossoms
- Tulle and chain
- Heart Lock
- Hitch Post
- Paper to fill the inside of the book

Thanks so much everyone and let me know what you think in the comments below!
