Vintage Art Journal Cover

Hey Peeps!!

So i have been wanting to make my very own art journal for quite a while now. I know we are almost in the month of December which is the holiday season but i thought why not make a friend a fun journal for Christmas! I made one a while back but decided to give it away so i wanted to make a new one! Donna was so kind to send along some of her now Mixed Media Embossing Powders which added the perfect vintage and shabby flare to my journal cover. I cant wait to start art journaling in this album (The album base was  a simple thick paged notebook i got from Ross and i ripped the covers off :)

IM IN LOVE WITH THIS JOURNAL! I used so many Donna Salazar Ink products from Clearsnap as well as products from her other manufacturers such as Spellbinders, Zutter and GCD Studios!

So i basically started by giving the front page a coat of gesso! Then i started spritzing the Smooch Spritz in Wood Stain, Pralines and Cream and other shades of browns! I made sure i left the gesso wet before i sprayed because i wanted it to pool and dry natural! As you can see the effect is so neat! I then took various pieces of laces and cut them at varrying lengths which make up the base of both the embellishment sections. The lace was coated in Watermark ink from Clearsnap and covered in the Clearsnap White Embossing Powder to make stiff, flexible and PRETTY! :)

I then added an arrangement of embellishments from metal trinkets to light bulbs to keys and so on! All the items where coated with the Mix'd Media Inks to give the shabby look, which i then sprayed on top with more Smooch Spritz and heat set! The effects you get with all the Spritz, Embossing, Inking and layering is so unique and could never be duplicated!

If you can tell under some of the lace i used some of the Crafty Chronicle to add a book text feel! I also die cut some Gears from the Spellbinders and Donna Salazar Sprightly Sprockets Die! They are not as noticeable but in person you can totally see them! If you can see the dark brown edges i did, i actually used the reinker for the mix'd media ink pads! I squirted some on a scrap and used my finger as a brush to outline the page!

Here are some close ups pics -

The effects from all of Donna's AMAZING inks and sprays really enhance your projects! I'm in love with this journal and i thought it was so fun to make! This would be a perfect Christmas gift to a crafty friend or just a cool piece to display in your home.
