Hello Lovelies, I did a photo shoot Thursday + Friday and wanted to share a few of my favorite photos with you. I took all these for my good friend Kaleigh. She was the perfect candidate to start my photography portfolio because as you can see she is stunning! I was so excited to get my first opportunity for a photo shoot with an actual person. Since this shoot I have already booked two more. What do you think of these photos? Do you have any recommendations as I would love some input! xoxo drew
WOW drew...these are stunning..it was nice to see her smile in one of the photos...that's the MOM in me talking..the only one i dont really like is the angle of the third picture..but really i have no idea what i'm talking about...love love love 2,8,11 your first shot is fabulous but i think she needed to pop a bit more..looks a little faded, but you probably wanted it like that..again i have no idea..keep going you are one talented man..
ReplyDeleteOutstanding photos.... you have a true talent for this... best of luck in the future.
ReplyDeleteThe angle in the third image (specifically called a Dutch Angle...check out one of my favorite photographers opinion on this http://neilvn.com/tangents/tilted-compositions/) is a little too much, the light in the last shot casts a green tint on her face and the 7th and 9th photo is ill-advised. Full on shots, especially full length ones, make the subject look wide. Shot 6...she is beautiful no joke but the composition is just odd to me. I'm like ummmmmm why is she holding her head like that. Seems weird to have her face tiled toward the camera like this and creates some unflattering lines on her neck. Other than that...I am ABSOLUTELY blown away by your work. AMAZING job for a first time!
ReplyDeleteYou did an amazing job Drew. And that girl is absolutely stunning !
ReplyDeletethese are gorgeous! I love # 2 its just bright and the focus is just on her! # 5 I know its her back but its a very beautiful photo and also # 8 with her against the fence...that one is just stunning and she doesn't look so serious! Awesome job...you are truly talented!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! She is a lovely lady, and it is great to try something new and I am glad you have more jobs already! I think #8,10, 11 are my favorites. She has a pretty smile so that one is my fav I think! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAs a photographer I can tell you your job is not only to please the Senior you're shooting but their parents as well. A mid riff shirt and cut up jeans are not appropriate attire for a Senior photoshoot. Remember a Senior portrait is one of those once in a lifetime portraits meant to last a lifetime. It is not a fashion spread. The back of her head is not a good shot. The best shown is of her smiling. The others are great but are not portraits. I also love all of the bones where she's wearing the striped dress in. Those are more on the money than the others.
ReplyDeleteAlways play with lighting and poses but remember the purpose of the shoot. I often have to remind myself of that so as not to waste time and effort on what doesn't make you money. Happy shooting!
Wow I think you did a great job. I personally think that these pictures shows her personality and I love her outfit. What kind of camera do you use and photo editing software, I am really curious.
ReplyDeleteI love your photographs. I'm not a photographer so I can't comment on your work like the others above me. I can say I do like the ones where she is smiling. She is a beautiful girl. I have an Off Track question for you if I may. I would like to start selling on STORENVy but noticed that I couldn't find your shop. Is it a good place to sell? Let me know please.
ReplyDeletethese are amazing. very professional looking. you should definitely keep photography as a hobby. you already have an eye for art so photography probably falls naturally with you lol.
ReplyDeleteThis is your FIRST photo shoot?? Not bad!! Great job with the last two- love back lighting.
ReplyDeleteThe 9th one looks a little awkward, only because she's just standing there with hands at her sides. Use angles! Here's an awesome reference!:

Keep it up, these are good.
Nicely done, Drew. Senior pics sure have changed since I was a student....lol!
ReplyDeleteWOW They are all great shots! The only suggestion I can say is use more angles and more smiles. Smiles like no one is watching and having a great time.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! The one on the train tracks is my fav! Great job Drew!
ReplyDeleteI like 2, 8, & 11. The rest seem either washed out, or she's too posed and serious, the ones in her jeans, full body she looks bigger than she probably really is. The striped dress is the most flattering outfit or a few more with the jean jacket.
ReplyDeleteDrew I love your photos, especially the candid shots where she's not looking at the camera. Like some previous comments her neck is a little stiff in the one photo, but it makes her hair look A-Mazing!! Love the vintage lighting effects they seem to enhance her "personality" in the photos. Great job!! Would love to see the other jobs you booked.
ReplyDeleteDrew these are awesome photos! Of course, you had a beauty to work with but they scenes and pics are great! Keep working and you will have a great portfolio!
ReplyDeleteHere you go again, another great idea.. I'm sure you have seen the cost of senior pic's..CRAZY.. What a fun side job for you.. OH and I like the one with her big smile..Very Pretty Girl..
ReplyDeleteI really liked the ones of her in the striped dress the best. The blank expression on her face in so many of the photos was a detraction, to me. Perhaps you might have to develop the skill to animate subjects like this. You have a good eye for photography, and I'm sure your shoots are going to only get better and better!
ReplyDeleteWow Drew! These photos are awesome!! The lighting and everything is perfect! NICE!!
ReplyDeleteWow! Drew you did an awesome job on this shoot. You are definitely a talented young man. I love all the pics. What kind of camera did you use?
ReplyDeleteHugs, Lourdes
Great photos Drew. Your friend Kaleigh is a beautiful young lady that photographed well. I think you have the talented to become a photographer. I recently got a canon D3200 and am enjoyed learning how to take photos. I may need to take lessons from you.
ReplyDeleteWOW---first time??? really??!!?? Great job hun!!!Continue! You are obviously very talented--! :)
ReplyDeleteIm not a photography expert but I love your first try at this! I agree with the other folks who commented that she is beautiful and I do love the ones where she shows her beautiful SMILE. As for the clothing comment, todays teens have a different idea of how they should dress for their Senior pictures, which isnt bad, just a different generation and if thats how the client wants it then you have to go with that. Never let anyone squelch your passion for photography as we can tell when a persons heart is in their work or not and yours obviously is!! Best Wishes to you!! Well done!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done! You are truly blessed with all your talents!
ReplyDeleteYou go, Drew! I'm looking forward to seeing more great pictures! Thanks for sharing.
